My husband got carried away with the green beans when he planted this year. Since, I'm the only one who eats them, I'm going to have to put them up this year. Every thing I've read says they have to be pressure canned. My problem is I can't find a pressure canner that will hold the quart jars. Can anyone help me find one?:

A pressure canner that doesn't hold quart jars? You're kidding. I thought all pressure canners held quart jars. Pressure COOKERS are much smaller so they don't, be they are also more difficult to use as pressure canners.

I found several pressure canners on Amazon.com.

Alternatives ...

You can freeze green beans after blanching them. That is my preferred method for them anyway. If you want, you can freeze them now and can them later.

You can pickle the green beans and process them in a water bath.

I just bought one at Walmart. here is the one I bought: Walmart.com : Presto 16-Qt. Pressure Canner : Kitchen & Dining

Last year I canned green beans the warm bath method and then AFTER I was done had read up on how bad that potentially could be so I wanted to buy a pressure canner this year. Online this is listed for $62.75 but in my local Walmart it was $58.75. So you may want to check the local store first and if not Walmart does have the site to store deal where you can pick it up at your local store to save in shipping costs.

I meant to add ... contact your local University Extension office. Sometimes they have pressure canners that you can borrow or rent.
