I'm making beef shish kabobs for a family reunion this weekend. I need a recipe for marinade, I wanted to try something other than store bought, but if anyone has used a great brand that they love, that would be helpful too.
thanks

My mom uses soy sauce and garlic salt and lets sit overnight. I think she puts some kind of herb like parsley in it too, not sure. My dad uses just plain 'ol italian dressing. Cheap and easy.

Garlic Marinade
~~~~~~~~~
1/2 c balsamic vinegar
1/4 c soy sauce
3 Tbs minced garlic
2 Tbs honey
2 Tbs olive oil
2 tsp pepper
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp liquid smoke flavoring
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Mix all in ziploc freezer bag...shake well and add steaks.
(I marinate a day or 2)
for store bought.....I highly recommend the McCormick grill mates!!!THE BEST.......in little packets over by the meatloaf mixes etc.....you just mix w/red wine vinegar n water.....awesome....we love the SW one and even the tomato basil one is fabu-loso on steaks!!!
i make a big batch of jamaican jerk sauce/marinade
4-6 hot peppers ( jalapeno OR scotch bonnets - WEAR gloves)
3 cloves garlic minced
1/2 cups chopped green onions
1/2 cup light soy sauce
1/2 cup lime juice
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup orange juice
1tsp. allspice
1tsp. nutmeg
1tsp. cinnamon
1tsp.pepper
1/2 tsp.thyme
1/2 tsp.basil.
blend all in pot for 15 minutes(stir occasionally). allow to cool. chill in glass jar( NOT plastic as it will affect taste). sauce will keep indefinately. just remove waht you need. GREAT for chicken/beef/seafood and veggies.
