Over the last year or 2 I've really tried to convert ALOT of things to fat free and low fat and have to say I really don't notice much of a difference in flavor but on some things the calorie and fat grams are considerably less.

anyone else been buying healthier?

The only fat free item I buy is skim milk, otherwise I buy low fat. I find that a lot of fat free items have no taste. We eat pretty healthy so I don't worry about buying fat free.

I will buy low fat but not fat-free. I find many fat-free things have an odd taste or weird texture (especially cheese). And I am left to wonder what sort of bizarre fake-food ingredients/chemicals/substitutions are they putting into the food to replace the fat?

I have been trying to pay more attention to the labels these days. I buy low fat milk,1/3 fat cream cheese, light yogurt, popcorn, cool whip, mayo, chips, (snyder multigrain).& Fat free coffee creamer. It does seem more expensive though. But when it comes to cheese I have to buy the real thing, I just eat it less often.

I try and buy as much low fat items as I can. So far I have never run into anything that didnt still taste as good as the regular.

I try to buy the low fat or fat free versions of everything I can. If its a common item I usually get low fat to please DH since he has to eat it too.. otherwise I'll at least try they fat free. if its terrible I'll just get low fat next time.

I buy it as much as possible. Once I was going to buy lite sour cream, and dh saw it and said he wouldn't eat it if it was lite. So I have to find creative ways to sneak fat free/low fat stuff into our house.

You have to be careful with the low fat & fat free claims. You have to really check the calories and nutritional information to see which is better as far as being healthier.

I never buy anything that is low fat or fat free unless that is the way it naturally comes for that exact reason. Who knows what was added to make the food seem normal??

I do. I buy skim milk, neufchatel cheese (instead of cream cheese) and lowfat sour cream and yogurt. I don't buy lowfat cheese, and on other items I generally check the ingredients to see if there's something weird added instead of the fat.

One thing I LOVE is the lowfat version of Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream. It is better than the regular and I think it's just frozen yogurt instead of ice cream.
