Is that possible?I would like something that is ground meat and something with it but not BBQ sauce, manwich or any kind of sweet sloppy joe.Do not like the sweet stuff but would like something like a loose meat sandwich type of thing.

Any idea's or any one out there like me that doesn't like that kind of stuff?

There must be right

It sounds like you're looking for a Maid-Rite recipe.
This is a crockpot recipe. I have not tried this one myself, but it sounds good. You would cut it in third for only a pound of hamburger.

3 lbs 85% lean hamburger
3 TBSP Worcestershire (Lea & Perrins)
3 TBSP Kikkoman regular Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp sweet paprika
1/4 C Apple cider vinegar
1 C Swanson's Chicken Broth
2 small yellow onions, finely diced
1/2 of a 12oz can Coca-cola
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Serve it with a slotted spoon onto a bun. top with mustard and pickle. ketchup optional.

I don't have a specific recipie to recommend, but perhaps there is a bbq sauce or steak sauce that you like that you could use?

I don't know for sure that it won't be a LITTLE sweet, but I know it's a FAR cry from manwich-you could try the McCormick 1 Step Beef Seasoning /sloppy joe

It's a dry seasoning blend that you add to ground beef.. and it's not nearly as tomatoey or sweet *likes her new word 'tomatoey!* haha

Maid-Rite's

1 lb ground beef or ground chuck
1 cup water
1/4 cup beef broth
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 plain hamburger buns
yellow mustard
minced onion
dill pickle slices

Brown beef, use potato masher to help get beef into small pieces.
Drain excess fat as soon as pink is gone.
Add 1 cup water and 1/4 cup beef broth.
Simmer the meat uncovered for 1 hour or until liquid is gone. Stirring every 10 minutes or so.
When liquid is gone put meat on bun, top with mustard, onion and pickle.

ORIGINAL MAID RITES

1 1/2 lb. hamburger
1 med. onion, minced
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. salt or to taste

Simmer hamburger and onion. Do not brown. Add other ingredients and simmer. Serve on buns with catsup and mustard, if desired

Authentic Iowa Maid-Rites

1 beef bouillon cube
1/2 cup hot water
1 tablespoon A-1 Sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 teaspoon Adolph’s meat tenderizer
1 teaspoon onion salt
2 pounds ground beef
2 tablespoons instant potatoes

White bread buns

Shredded cheese, onions, pickles and mustard
Dissolve bouillon cube in 1/2 cup hot water. Add the A-1 sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, salt, meat tenderizer and onion salt. Brown ground beef and drain, reserving 1/4 cup fat. Return beef to Dutch oven or large saucepan. Pour in 1/4 cup fat and bouillon mixture; stir well.
Simmer 5 minutes and add instant potatoes. Beat with an electric mixer to desired consistency. More instant potatoes will produce a thicker, less crumbly sandwich. Avoid over mixing. Scoop onto bun with a slotted spoon.
If desired, top with cheese, onion, pickle and mustard, any or all. Do not top with ketchup as these gems are not Sloppy Joes! Enjoy often and in mass quantities!

I am so glad to hear that someone else does not like "sweet" meat, I too am interested in a sloppy joes like sandwich that is not sweet. I read a recipe recently but have not tried it, it calls for ground beef cooked with french onion soup and served on a bun....that might be good!
