I got a very nice tortilla chef at a garage sale for only $1. Now what do I do with it I tried to make some homemade tortillas, but they kept coming out the sides and the end by the hinge was pressed super thin and the other side too thick. Anyone have any tricks?

try hand flettening them a little before adding to the press....shape it like a disk rather than adding the ball of dough...sometimes that helps to make it more uniform.

I have heard of turning it once after pressing it and then pressing it again.I have never made them personally.

If it's coming out the sides try using a smaller ball of dough and not pressing as hard. turning it is a great idea also.
