Well I sat down and planned our meals for the whole month and today I went shopping for most of the items we needed. Now I did have some meat stored in the freezer so I did not have to purchase as much.

I am hoping by doing one large shopping trip and than just a few extras throughout the month will help me spend less because I won't be in a store. I just have to make sure when I pick up few extras such as fresh fruit that I can control buying anything else. Maybe I will send DH if he is willing!! He is always in and out and usually only buys what I put on list.

Budget:$450.00
Spent:$115.46
Remaining:$334.54

I have a question...how many members do you have in your family? I know with me having 5 of us I have a hard time keeping my totals down.

I feed 5 everynight and depending on the girls' schedule that number jumps to 6, 7 or 8.

I think this is a fabulous idea! I think we're going to aim for $400.00 for groceries and $50.00 for stockpiling.

We were grossly overbudget last month, but it was our first month at trying this kind of thing out. This month, we'll be much more disciplined.

I'm going to try for $600. I'd like to get it down even more considering I spent close to $800 in September. There's 6 of us, and my kids eat like they'll never get food again.
