BURGERS WITH CREAMY BBQ SAUCE
1 tablespoon low carb barbecue sauce * (I used regular BBQ sauce)
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
Pinch granular Splenda, optional (I didn't use any splenda)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 small onion, about 1 1/2 ounces
4 ounce ground beef patty
1 ounce cheddar cheese, sliced
Blend barbecue sauce, mayonnaise and a little Splenda, to taste; set aside. Sauté onion in butter in a small skillet until lightly browned; keep warm. Meanwhile grill hamburger patty, seasoning to taste with salt and pepper; place on heat-proof plate or baking sheet. Top with onion and cheese. Broil until cheese is melted. Top with sauce to serve.
Makes 1 serving
* I used Carb Options Hickory Barbecue Sauce
With 1 tablespoon sauce:
Per Serving: 477 Calories; 39g Fat; 26g Protein; 5g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 4g Net Carbs
With 2 tablespoons sauce:
Per Serving: 529 Calories; 45g Fat; 26g Protein; 6g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 5g Net Carbs
This is a very tasty combination and I especially liked the sauce. The original recipe said to use 2 tablespoons of sauce per serving. Although that would taste good it's a little excessive for one burger. I've given the counts for both ways. The serving in the photo has 1 tablespoon of sauce on it. Most of the carbs are coming from the onion - about 3 net carbs. Since there really aren't a lot of them, the only way to cut back would be to leave them out, but they do add a nice flavor.
Please note that while I've given this the "ok" for induction, because all the ingredients are allowed, I think it's a bit carby for a dish with very little vegetable in it. I suggest that the onion either be omitted or only use a dab for flavor if you're on induction.
