After a recent post by Jellylou, I started thinking about my carbs. I almost always have cereal for breakfast. I could eat an egg but I'm usually too busy with the kids to cook something for myself before school.

What are your low carb breakfast and meal ideas?

I wish I could help you here. I either have cereal or oatmeal -- I never make the time for myself to make eggs. Sometimes on the weekends I will make up a few omelets and have them for the week.

Well, I usually fry an egg and then eat it in a softened corn tortilla, with a few drops of hot sauce! Some of you might think this sounds gross, but I love it! Plus, it's only 3 WW points and keeps me quite full until lunchtime.

Before the kids, I would make a smoothie for myself & my husband in the morning. I can't run the blender while they are sleeping! I really just don't have the time before school to make them either. I could make it the night before but I don't think it tastes right the next day. I've had leftover smoothies.

Thanks for your replies

yogurt with strawberries or blueberries or bananas in the morning and sprinkle in some all bran
grapefruit
1 cup oatmeal with fresh fruit
Anyway-you-like-them eggs with fresh veggies: spinach, onion, peppers, tomatoes
multigrain toast with peanut butter
whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter
whole wheat english muffin with eggs and a slice of ham with a piece of cheese

The eggs sound like a lot of work but they aren't. You can easily scramble all these ingredients together, instead of frying them, to make a very fulfilling breakfast.

I think I got this from the South Beach diet book but not sure. I scoop some cottage cheese on a piece of canadian bacon. It is so good! I usually eat 2.

I like to start my morning with a nutrition shake. It's high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, omega 3's, protein, probotics. I sometimes throw in some berries too. It's fast, easy, and healthy. It gives me the energy I need until my mid-morning snack or lunch. If you have a magic bullet, you can make it really fast with little clean-up too.

cheese & crackers. I often have a high protein cereal, like kashi. Cottage cheese. A PB sandwich. Fish sticks.
