I have bone-in chicken breast in my fridge that I have been trying to defrost for 2 days now....It's still frozen. I would like to boil it to grill later, but Dh doesn't like the "boiled chicken taste".
How could I boil it without getting that taste?
I was thinking of boiling and then marinadeing... is that possible?

ETA: I don't have anything else thawed to make for dinner. That is why I am needing to boil it

I'd just run it under warm water in the sink. Or put it in a bowl of hot water in the sink & change the water every few minutes as it cools, and keep running more warm/hot water over it. Thaws it faster.

I soak mine in a lastic zip bag in the sink of cold water. for some reason it defrosts faster than if I try warm water.

Why do you boil it first before putting it on the grill? Are you doing that to just defrost it? I've never heard of doing that. Doesn't it affect the flavor and texture of the meat. JMO

I would just stick it in the fridge...I'm a slow cold defroster. LOL I know that doesn't help you tonight! I just think the using hot/warm water to defrost meat encourages all kinds of gross bacteria, so I'm just not comfortable doing that. If I had to do it, I would use cool water and change it frequently.

Here are some safe ways to defrost:

I put the chicken in a Gallon Ziploc with the marinade, then put it in a sink full of cold water...

I am usually a slow cold defroster too, but my goodness after a few days I'd had it with the little buggers!

Thanks for the link, Oregano. Education is always needed when it comes to thawing and cooking our meats.

Oh yeah, I usually boil before putting it on the grill, usually to make sure that it is done through.

I'm a vegetarian now, so I don't make chicken anymore, but I used to parboil it before I'd put it on the grill just so it wouldn't take so long. We thought it was juicier that way too.

Use the microwave to defrost it or set it on the counter for a while and it defrosts.I don't like to boil chicken then grill it.You lose nutrition and LOTS of flavor doing that.If it is still frozen you can always pop it in the oven and bake it longer untill done.
