Kemtee’s Marinara Sauce

1 clove garlic, smashed and minced
1 small onion, finely diced
3 tbsp olive oil
1 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
1-3 tsp dried basil, to taste
1-3 tsp dried parsley, to taste
salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil over medium heat in a 2-3 qt. saucepan. When hot, add onion and garlic and saute until onion is transparent. Watch that you don't burn the garlic -- reduce heat if necessary. When this is ready, add the tomatoes. Reduce heat to low, so you don't have to clean the ceiling after dinner. Add a few tablespoons of water to the can and swoosh it about to get all the stuff, and add the water to your sauce. Add dried herbs and salt and pepper, and allow to simmer for at least thirty minutes.

If you want to add ground beef or sausage links, this is the time to do it.

This sounds delicious. Does anyone know if it freezes well?

Ever since I've had this recipe, I had seriously not used any store bought sauce. Thanks.

Yes. I have frozen it by itself and with meatballs and sausage in it. I've not kept it TOO long-term, but if you use it -- like anything -- in a reasonable time span there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, y'all. Ya make me blush.
