We just camped for 12 days.... All our meals were cooked over the fire or in the smoker... And we eat good. We love cooking outside and have several things we have learned along the way..
Snacks:
Smore's - add a resses peanut butter cup instead of chocolate bars...
add pb, spread on the graham cracker
SOS ~ snack on a stick
create a cup out of a grand biscut put over the end of a dowel and cook slowly until brown, it will loosen up and be able to move when it's not doughy... add pizza sauce to the middle, or butter and roll in cinn and sugar
Kettle Corn~ in a large cast iron dutch oven heat your oil and pop corn until it sounds like it's done, then quiclky add white sugar and stir...
Singing Apples ~ put apple on roasting stick, as it cooks the skin will split and the juice makes a singing sound. peel and roll in cinn and sugar.
Pie Irons~
pizza- we prefer english muffin over using bread
sandwichs - ham, cheese or turkey and cheese. I like ranch dressing in mine. Rubens add cut up saugage, and crout with a little thousand island dressing or mayo and ketchup...
omlets- we use hard boiled eggs add other veggies and cheese
Pie- blueberry is the best..
Using raisin bread, put marshmallows and chocolate chips inside.
Grilling~
BBQ chicken
Burgers
Kabobs
Brats
steaks
ribs
Breakfast~
using a large cast iron griddle put 1-2 pounds of bacon on to grease your griddle while cookin your bacon.
french toast - try blueberry bread or raisin bread
pancakes - add blueberries or fine cut (almost shaved) apples
sausage
eggs- over easy is so good over the fire
Egg McMuffins- put several of the above things together with a slice of cheese.
Foil Packets~
Add veggies of like density along with butter, seal and cook on grill.
yellow squash, zuccini, onion, mrs dash
loose hamburger, canned veggies, seasonings
potatoes and onions
onions and mushrooms
broccoli with a little garlic salt
If your looking for something specific just ask I'm sure I can help you..
