And it's made from Aldi brand ingredients! I figure it cost me about $5 to make the entire pot.
Here goes - the best chili I've ever made (and DH agrees).
1# ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 can regular diced tomato
1 can chili-seasoned diced tomato
1 can chili-seasoned beans
1 can tomatoes with jalepeno chiles
1 can mushrooms
1 envelope chili seasoning (I used Ortega, but any will do)
Brown beef and onion. Drain off any extra grease. Add rest of ingredients. Simmer - the longer the better! (Great for the crock pot!) When serving, top with small diced onion & shredded cheddar cheese.
This has some spice to it, but we like it that way. If you like your chili more mild, I'd say probably use a second can of chili-seasoned tomatoes in place of the jalepeno-chile tomatoes.
If you have any leftovers, make this for tomorrow's lunch:
Make a grilled cheese sandwich, and then top with COLD chili. MMMMMMMMMMMmmmmm YUMMY! Make it even better by adding a breaded chicken patty into the grilled cheese sandwich.. Sooooo good!
And remember - you can freeze chili!
