Since I had my tubes tied, my periods are getting worse and worse - they don't hurt, but they are extremely heavy and last for a full 7 days. * I've talked to the doc about it and she just poo-poos it and tells me it's common for women who have had tubal ligations. *(wish they had told me this BEFORE the surgery) *

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas? home remedies? herbs? anything to try to make them less of a burden?

Thanks!

you can try to take anti-inflamatories about 1 week before you start. This will help to keep all of "your parts" less swollen and irritable. Dh(in Med) made me do this every month. It worked for me. I took an 800mg motrin once a day for 1 week before, then everyday of. That might sound like alot, but mine were very painful and it did help for awhile-- I ended up having a complete hyst. If you tolerate pain better, you could try taking a smaller mg and work your way up to what feels better.
Is your doc sure that you don't have some scar tissue issues going on?

What kind of scar tissue? *Where exactly? I have tons around my c-section incision...I've had two.

I also have a ruptured hernia in my stomach (left over from pregnancy #2 - got it repaired - then ruptured it w/ pregnancy #3) - I will get it repaired next January (also getting a tummy tuck - same incision so the operation will be a double doozie). *When I had baby #3 - the doc was trying to get to the baby and she said several things about the amount of scar tissue and that the surgeon who will fix my hernia is going to have a hard time getting through all of the scar tissue. *In fact, she had to have another doc scrub in to help her because she was having such a hard time dealing w/ the scar tissue. *This was in Febuary of 2004. *I haven't seen a GYN doc since then. *I never went back for my 6 week pospartum check up and haven't even had a pap smear since. *

I go to a family doctor now who sees all of us and I haven't been able to bring myself to get a yearly "female" checkup yet - I know it's stupid and I need to. *We talk about all the female stuff and she says when I'm ready we need to hurry up and do pap smear and all that fun stuff.

I just never seem to have the time or money to go for my own appts - you know what I mean? *Who wants to go and take 3 kids w/ them for that? *They would never sit the waiting room w/out fighting. *I know I need to go, but in the meantime I was hoping to find something herbal or a home remedy to help w/ the heavy bleeding. *Its so nasty. *It doesn't hurt, but it's just awful.

of course I have TONS of herbal books and remedies, and they are all locked up in the storage unit... try going to the library and check out a few books on herbal remedies..

there is this one book I love that is like the herbal bible i kid you not.. and i can't think of the name right now I think due to only 2 hours sleep, when i think of it I will tell you asap...

as far as heavy bleeding I don't know if there is actually anything that will cut that back. how long ago did you have your tubes tied?

maybe it will cut back after awhile..
