My mil is have bladder repair surgery in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how the recovery is for this surgery? She is a large woman that walks with a walker, she has bad knees. My sil is getting a schedule together for all the family members to take turns caring for her when she gets home. They are sending her home one day after surgery w/ a catheter. A nurse will come and take it out at home after 3 days. I'm a little uncomfortable (nervous) and freaked out about caring for her (and I feel guilty about that). So I am just looking for some info to see what to expect.

The only person I personally know who had this was relatively young so probably wouldn't have the mobility problems of your mil. I'm guessing she'll be about as mobile as before and really wouldn't need more than someone to maybe cook for her or bring her things for a few days. Someone would probably want to monitor her getting up to the walker (so she doesn't lose her balance) for a bit, just until she seems steady. I wouldn't expect it to be too much care. HTH
