I am trying very hard to up my veggie intake. I have been stocking my fridge with raw veggies: celery and baby carrots, as well as consciously making or adding them to my nightly dinners. However, when I look at the food pyramid I realize I am still way behind.

How well do you do?

Not well at all! I have to say that I only eat fruits and vegetables a couple of times a week. Luckily, my children like them much better than me!

Not nearly enough. I take a multivitamin each day, and I try to convince myself that is good enough. I know it's really not. . . .

I usually get 1-2 veg. a day and maybe one fruit. I know I need to eat more. Why is it so hard to do something so easy?

I asee a dietician and the amount of veggies is bigger than you think. I was alwasy told the lettuce and tomato count as two veggies. that is wrong! they may count as one. I am always surprised at the amount. I have been working on this as well.

I try to get as many as I can in, but its hard!! I like to add veggies to everything...sandwiches, soups, casseroles, stir-frys, etc. But sometimes its hard to get as much in when my DH and DS aren't big veggie lovers. Fruits are a big hit around my house though...we get plenty of those. Remember 100% fruit juice counts!!

Well, the link you gave is for a VEGETARIAN diet so I don't think it is really accurate for most of us here. Here is a better link to discover how many fruits/vegetables you need based on your age, sex, and level of activity. I was surprised it was so low for me actually. I am supposed to get 2.5 cups of vegetables and 1.5 cups of fruits.

I get at least 5 a day due to my Weight Watcher food planning. I will admit to most of those being vegetables because I like them better and they are usuallo 0 points.

No reason to be sorry!!! I just wanted to point out it might be as dire as we first thought!

It is good information to have.

I eat (5) 1/2 cup servings a dayof fruits or veggies. It really isn't hard at all for me. It really fills me up so I am not eating other stuff that I shouldn't be...well, not always. LOL

I do have to have a glazed donut every now and again! hahahaha

I looked at the website Claire gave and it says I should eat 2.5 cups of veggies and 2 cups of fruits.. YIKES!
