Oh, Mom2fiveinmn
my prescription is: D.V.; O.D. -100 (spherical) -050 (cylindrical) 180 axis/ O.S. -50 (spherical) -050 (cylindrical) 180 axis. Is it common that vision would get better in some cases? If my prescription is now lighter, will it feel weird with new lighter Rx glasses? Thanks![/quote]
Glad to hear it's all getting worked out for you---I would be a little cautious though with your doctor saying that they "gave you the wrong RX" because even being a little off--is such a close margin-- 0.12 can be called a "change in RX" but it's really nothing......
Anyway, yes, your vision can improve---your vision changes--even the time of day and your blood pressure can change your RX....there are lots of variables.
As for your RX- because you have a little bit of astigmatism (that -0.50 number) RX's are measured in diopters of power--so you have a whole diopter of power for your distance and half a diopter for your astigmatism. You will most likely notice the changes there--the number after it is called the axis--that's at what degree (0-180) that part of your RX is ground at. Usually when my astigmatism RX changes, I feel like the floor is a litte wierd at first---or almost a little sick for the first day or two. (I wouldn't drive home with them if you are feeling that). But normally within a week or so, most people do adapt well to that unless there is something really wrong (like wrong lens in wrong side or something like that--and yeah, that does happen--just most places "catch" it when they are inspecting the eyewear so the customer doesn't have to figure that one out).
Hope that helps!
