I'm on the low carb diet. I actually started a week or so ago and totally had a brain fart about 5 days into it and ate bread.... So I started it back up yesterday. Last time I was on it I lost 19 lbs. We're planning a vacation the begining of December and I REALLY want to lose 40lbs before that. I think 10lbs a month should be doable. My biggest obstacle is actually my dh. He always wants to do the diet with me, then cheats of just forgets and eats carbs. He just did it last night... His FIRST day on the diet. I'm making this yummy low-carb meal for us and turn around to see him munching on gold-fish. As soon as he saw me looking he realized and threw the bag down, but it was too late, he already ate a handfull. Then he's just gives up for a few days. It wouldn't bug me if he just wasn't on the diet, but his constantly stopping and starting cause me to be prone to it also.
http://www.lowcarbluxury.com has some awsome recipes in it with very low carbs. My favorites are the bacon and thyme chicken with cream sauce, chicken marsala, stuffed peppers, and the creamed beef florentine. The cheeseburger quiche is good, but very heavy, Dh loves it. Also, the mock mashed potatoes made with cauliflower are very good.
Be careful of the nitrites in prepackaged meats like hotdogs and sausages. Your body treats them like carbs. Boars Head are the best sausages and dogs to get, cause they have no preservatives.

What I do and it works pretty well is to have basically no carbs after 3pm. I have a light carb with breakfast and lunch but none at dinner. I also don't eat fruit after 3pm. Having a little in my diet curbs my craving but eating it earlier in the day gives me time to get rid of the sugar before bed. Good luck!

I weighed in this morning and I've lost 5 1/2 lbs since last Thursday. I'm psyched!! I even had a few low-carb drinks this weekend and still lost!!
I do plan a menu before shopping. Low carb foods tend to cost more then the norm, and I'm not yet used to making them all the time. I try to make sure I buy only what I need for the week's meals and snacks, so I don't waste. I did go to Costco Friday and bought about $70 in meat and cheese, all kinds, and put it in single serving bags to freeze. I just have to buy veggies to make most meals.
I've been big on grilling a meat, and adding a butter cream sauce to it. You can flavor a basic cream sauce with anything... thyme, mushrooms, chives, cheese, garlic, all of the above.... That way you use the same basic ingredients, saving money, but still get something different each night.
I'll pm you my number, call anytime that urge for nacho's arises...

I started South Beach on Monday. I tried the Veggie Quiche cups to go ~ and they were blech!!
So instead, I have been making eggs for breakfast every morning and adding low fat cheese and onions.
I have also been eating lots of nuts for snacks.
I do, however, miss my sweets. BUT I am committed to losing this baggage...at least until I can get to the gym, which was supposed to be this week, but the CDC on base has been full (argh)

This morning I fried 2 eggs and a slice of bologna for breakfast (3 grams). Then I had a little tuna salad wrapped in lettuce for lunch (5 grams). For dinner I'm making bacon-cheeseburger quiche (5 grams). I had a few slices of cheese for snacks, so I'm up to about 14 grams all day. It's a good day. I know yeterday I probably went over by 2-3 carbs, so I'm trying to make up for it.
The problem with this diet is there is really no "little cheat". If you eat just one chip, forget it, your starting the induction phase all over again!!
