Holding yourself accountable for the New Year will help you make your goals. Set yourself small goals working towards a much bigger one.

Come here and share your story with us. We're here to support and encourage you. We want you to succeed too!

What are your fitness goals for 2007?

Mine are the same as they always are (I don't believe in setting goals at a New Year - you should do it whenever): get to my goal weight, exercise consistently (doing pretty well there), get better at running. Oh, and this is the year I am doing a mini-triathalon they have here. I hurt my knee before it last year so this is the year.

For those of us who want to start the year off right, let's focus on writing down our goals, big or small, starting here, and then we can post them around the house as daily reminders. Check them off or sractch them off (it feels better that way) as each one is accomplished. Then in three months time, re-evaluate them: are they too hard, are they too easy, are we still on track. By six months, do it again and so on! If you stick to your goals, and stay focused, you will start seeing results!!!

Here are mine:

1) Continue going to the gym four days a week
2) Re-vamp my cardio program: maybe take that spinning class they keep cancelling
3) Try swimming twice a week
4) Look into a kick boxing class
5) Get that dress on in February!!!
6) Buy a new pair of "skinny" jeans
7) Box up my "big" pants and freecycle them so they are gone forever
8) Participate in a 5 K run this spring
9) Find a work out partner in OKC
10) Try doing Atheltic Yoga again

My husband is getting ready to deploy so I'm going on a diet and exercise plan so that whe he comes home he'll have his old wife back (aka the thinner, happier one I used to be) so here are my goals:

#1-Lose 45-60lbs
#2-TONE my body
#3-Exercise 5 days a week
#4-Eat much healthier
#5-Take supplements everyday
#6-Drink at least 48oz of water everyday

I want to start on Jan 5th since that's when my husband is leaving. I'll post a new thread for anyone that wants to join me!

Looks good girls. Don't forget to add some small goals in there too....the more you are able to check off your 'goal list' the more motivated you will stay throughout the year.

I am with Claire, I try to have goals all the time, not just at New Year's, however, I did get rollerblades for Christmas (I asked for them, dh was not giving me a hint) so that will now be on my list of things to do. We usually walk or ride bikes...now I will rollerblade while he rides his bike. It is a challenge to keep up with him.

After each child I always bought myself a goal dress or outfit to inspire me. Which worked for me. This time, my motivation is to just fit into my size 6 jeans. I can comfortably squeeze into an 8, so I have about 10-15 pounds left to go.

I think I going to set monthly goals. I have been overweight and inactive for so long I want to take baby steps so I check things and feel a sense of accomplishment then next month step it up a notch.
January's Goal:
1. Drink more water-work up to 64oz. a day.
2.Excercise 15-30 minutes 4-5 days a week.
3.Keep a food journal and plan meals/snacks.
4.Lose 5 - 7 pounds this month.

My goals are new this year. Usually I promise to lose all my weight! This time I am thinking smart. Small steps at a time equal better results:

1. Drink more water.
2. Walk at least 3 nights a week with my Mom. She does 5 miles.
3. Eat better portions of food. I don't eat too bad most of the time.
4. Start focusing more on me and my health/fitness then my family. I love them but I have lost myself over the years. If I do this I know I can be a better wife/Mom/person.

Ok I'm jumping in with this one...maybe I'll actually stick to it!

My goals this year are just to actually stick with my diet and exercise program! I know all the right things to do and do them with success, however, when I lose about 15 lbs - I resort back to my old ways...so my only goal this year is to stick with my goal until the final result...and then maintain it!!
