I have been very dedicated to my new spirituality and I have been trying to live my life the best way I can. I am planning to get baptised and to get my children baptised. I don't go around and put my hand on peoples heads and pray out in public (though I have seen people do this) I think that's extreme. What about you?
I will try to explain this the best way I can but bear with me.

When a sinner (anyone that's not saved) surrenders their life and will to Christ, and prays for God to forgive them and come into their heart, than he/she is born again. Being born again is a term for believers because when someone says a "sinners prayer" and truly wants to serve God - their spirit man goes through a rebirth. Everything sinful that the person did before the prayer is forgiven and erased from God's memory. That same person starts fresh...a brand new start and from there they are to live a life thats sactified (set apart) from their old ways.

Being spirit filled has a couple of different meanings and I am going to explain just one of them. When a sinner becomes born again the Holy Spirit automatically comes to live within them. Up until that prayer we were separated from God because God is sovereign and Holy and cannot live in a person that hasnt accepted Him as their savior. When a person is born again (saved) that doesnt make them perfect (far from it) but that person begins to submit thier life to Christ and they begin to let God transform them into what God has called them to be.

Getting water baptised is something entirely different than what I explained above. Essentially, water baptism is a symbolic statement...a statement saying that a person has buried their old life (that's when the person is getting dunked under water) and is now living a new life (that's when the person rises out of the water).

As far as the question about people laying on hands and praying in public...your beliefs are FAR DIFFERENT from mine so its just better to NOT "go there". Maybe some other time. HTH

Me! Me!! Me!!! My husband and I were baptized together at the beginning of our marriage (we were saved at seperate times, though!). Since then, three of our six children have been, too. The younger three aren't quite to the age yet to understand, but they are being raised in church with the hope (and prayer!) to be born again when they are ready!

Saved and going to Heaven!! The best day of my life was when my son became a believer, now my whole family is saved and the blessings that come from knowing that are immeasurable.

Yes, born again, filled with the sweet Holy Ghost, along with other spiritual gifts from the Lord. I am doing my best to hang in there and make it to Heaven.
