Here's my question to those who've already lost a lot: when will it start falling off again???

I didn't see it "fall off" but week by week it was a pretty steady loss. I had to be absolutely diligent everyday w/ counting my calories and w/o exercise, I didn't see much, if any, weight loss. The week of my period, I also didn't see as much weight loss. I always weighed in on Friday mornings so Friday was my cheat day (I could go out to eat, drink alcohol, etc.) but I stuck to my 1200-1300 calories every other day. Start tracking your calories if you don't already. Sometimes cutting back isn't enough if you are still eating more than 2000 calories a day and you may be sabotaging your weight loss just by eating too many calories. I had no idea how much I was eating (usually 3000+ everyday) until I started keeping track so just cutting back to 2000-2200 was doing nothing to help me lose.
Your body is an amazing machine -- over time it gets used to your new eating habits and exercise routine, and will adapt itself to this new calorie intake and expenditure. That's why you hit a plateau. A couple things I learned about getting beyond a plateau was to decrease your calories (unless you are already at 1200 - don't go less than that unless your doctor has recommended it). If you have already lost more than 40 lbs., you can do with less calories than when you started. Increase your fat burning exercise and your water intake, eat smaller meals more often and avoid late night snacks. Change the type or intensity of your exercise. Sometimes your body gets used to a certain type of exercise and if you aren't pushing yourself past that, you won't get the same benefits. If you aren't measuring yourself, start and keep track. I measure my bicep, chest, waist, hips, thigh and calf. I never thought my legs were that fat because I carry most of my weight in my middle but I lost 5 inches in my thigh (yes, ladies, one thigh!!!). Who knew I was that fat and why didn't anyone tell me?!?!?!?
Hang in there, if you keep on track, you will begin losing again.
