Question Those of you working out.....

Do you have "before" pictures?

Do you have an exercise journal? or food journal?

How are you keeping track of your progress?


I keep an online journal about my progress. I don't write down what I eat each day, but I do keep track (mentally) of my caloric intake...and portion sizes. I am also very conscious about my water intake too. I make a point of working out at least three, at the most four, times a week (even if that means one day on the weekend). Thirty minutes of cardio each time followed by a half hour to an hour of weight lifting and stretching. And I bought a top to match them!!!

My "before" picture was taken in October and I'm due to have a "midway" picture...I'm hesitating having it done now because I fear that I won't be pleased (I set a high bar for myself in terms of progress). I so want to have my four pack back and muscle definition in my arms, but I know that's not there yet. It seems like it will never be again!! ARGH!!

However, I do celebrate small accomplishments. When I was able ot put on a pair of my jeans from PRE-PREGNANCIES (plural) I was ecstatic! I wore them all week, just because I could (dirty or not, I put them on!!)

Well I do have a before picture (from July) but I am not NEAR having an after picture yet!! My exercise/calorie journal is using www.sparkpeople.com I can log my calories and exercise and it will show the progression on a grid so that I can compare it.

I so need to get myself down though and need to start moving! I have 2 weddings this year that I am standing up for. One being my mother-in-laws in July and the other one is my best friends in Las Vegas in October. I so want to be where I want but I have to admit that I definately have the winter blues!


I also have my small goals that once I get to the first I will let you all know!!

Weddings are good motivators!! I lost ten pounds for my sister's wedding just to fit into the dresses she wanted us to wear. That weekend I got pregnant with ds#2!!!!

My goal is to shed six more, and add definition by APRIL. If that doesn't happen...then definitely by AUGUST when we have our family reunion. Surely I should have made most of my progress by then!!!

I also started using spark people. I am horrible of trying to figure all that stuff out in my head and losing track of where I write down my calories. For my water intake- I have a sports bottle and try to fill it up at least 5x's a day (20 ozs)- i know that is a lot of water but it is basically the only thing I drink now (no more Mt. Dew- yeah!). As for exercising- I have cut back some recently- due to babysitting and having a chest cold right now- I try to exercise at least 5x's a week- since I am soo out of shape. So far this week I only worked out 3x's- I will try to do some this evening - but I have to on Sat morning. I am started to feel angry at myself if i don't exercise (which can be a good thing! That means that I will stick with it now!).

As for pictures- my last picture taken was over a year ago and I do not have them taken anymore-just so depressing how I let myself go! I have been thinking about doing one though- so I can see how my progress is going- i would really like to see a difference by June- when we go on a beach vacation- Yikes! Let's just say- the easter bunny is not going to go crazy with chocolates this year!

I have plenty of before pictures but not one that I deemed the official picture.

I was keeping track with http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/Index.html but I stopped after I lost 25lbs. I would still like to shed 5-10 more. Actually I would just like to get rid of the c-section baby pooch. I think I need to up the cardio to do so. When it gets warmer it will be easy to burn extra calories outside. I do The Firm 3x week and Yoga 2x.

Great job on getting on the pre-mommy jeans!! I did the exact thing - wearing jeans because I could. Good for you

I so need to get on the ball and join you ladies. I have to lose weight as well. My niece is getting married in June and for the life of me, I can not seem to get the weight to start coming off. I have been yo yoing in a 5 lb range and I get really frustrated. My new thing is I am getting up before my husband goes to work so that I can exercise and then take a shower before taking over the kids....

I keep a mental note of my daily calories. I used to keep a food journal but I'm in such a habit now of eating the healthy stuff I don't need to write it. I do work out everyday at the gym! One hour of cardio and either arms or legs (alternating days) and also abs everyday! I have lost 11 lbs since Jan 8th and hope to be at my goal of 60lbs gone by July!! As far as a picture I'm sure I have a few of my from around christmas time that could be a "before" but I don't want to take anymore til I hit my GOAL!!

I took some "mid way through" pictures last week. I didn't really see the changes until dh pointed them all out. It felt good once he said that things are looking "hotter"!!! (but he thinks chocolate covered ice cream is hot, you know what I mean? LOL)

I think in September I will take another profile shot and that will mark my yearly progress.
