I gave up on my Diet Mountain Dew starting last Thursday. I was doing great until today...... I have been able to sleep in every day since then but now that dd is back in school I can't. I am sitting here wanting my Dew soooo bad! I am ready to cave. But I need to keep telling myself that I can do it and it is not that bad. I never drank soda until college and then it was only maybe one a day. Now I was up to 2- 16 oz bottles a day.

Eventually I will be a no soda kind of girl but for now it is hard.

How does everyone else do it?

I gave it up by not having it in the house, You could try switching to flavored water with fizz for awhile? However I don"t want to get you started on another addiction

YOU CAN DO IT!

You are right. I don't have it in the house. My hard part is that when we go on errands we run into the gas station and get soda and snacks for us in the car. I have to start packing our own snacks with bottled water. I have always drank plenty of water (probably 60-100oz) on any given day so I will see how the first week goes. i will also try to keep my mind off of it!

Flavored water with fizz does sound good though

The flavored fizzy water is how my dh weaned himself off of soda at work! He got tired of it after awhile and now takes Icetea, lemonade that kind of stuff.

So think of this after giving up the Dew it will make you stop going to the gas station so you will save money and maybe a few calories by making up your own snacks and stuff. One habit will end up breaking 2 others, just keep thinking that!!!

I just recently gave up reg. Mt Dew for caffeine free diet coke (what Dh drinks) and can totally relate to where you are. It's such a habit to grab one from the checkout line, or the gas station. I currently have 2 BOGO bottle caps in my purse that are calling me. :worried:

Luckily we live LONG distances from any store so I can't "just run out for one", but (silly as it sounds) I miss the taste. There is nothing I found that curbs that spot for the taste of it.

Man -it's a good thing that's my worst addiction. I can see how it's hard for others to give up some of the more unhealthier things. . Lean on me - we'll talk each other down from cravings

My dh substituted fruit 2oh for pop a couple of years ago. That stuff is pretty good!!!! I on the other hand have to have my caffine!!! (don't care for Mt Dew though) I figure that if that is my biggest vice I am doing well!

Hang in there, it will get better, they do say it takes about one month for the body to adjust to a new habit,

I gave it up awhile ago but got hooked again. Two days ago i decided to cut back again. Saturday i didn't have any pepsi and yesterday i had a mini can of diet pepsi. I just love it sooooooooooo much but i hate what it does to my body.

I'll partner with you if you want. We can check in every day.
