And ye now therefore have sorrow:but I will see you again, and heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And it that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you,Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,he will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall received , that your joy may be full. John 16:22-24
This was a letter sent from my Churches Parish Nurse its a good one that we should follow:
Dear Friends
Studies have shown that humor and laughter in our lives can be therapeutic. We all deal with stress, pressure and worry in our daily lives and have become accustomed to these feelings. Published studies have shown that laughing lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, increases muscle flexion, and boosts immune function. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being. The following info was taken from an article found in Humor and Health Journal.
Stress can cause our muscles to tighten and become stiff and painful. A good belly laugh resulths in muscle relaxation. Laughter also reduces at least 4 of the neuroendocrine hormones associated w/ the stress response (fight or flight) The reduction of these hormones may also lower blood pressure.
Laughing is aerobic, providing a workout for the diaphragm and increasing the body's ability to use oxygen. Its effects are also similar to deep breathing. Frequent belly laughter empties your lungs of more air than it takes in resulting in a cleansing effect. This is especially beneficial for patients who are suffering from emphysema and other respiratory ailments. Clinical studies have shown that humor strengthens the immune system by increasing the number and activity level of certain cells that fight infection and some types of cancer cells. Humor can also help persons with pain reduction such as in arthritis, etc by allowing the person to "forget" about the pain for certain periods of time.
Experts believe that, when used as an adjunct to conventional care, laughter can be another useful tool available to help fight disease. Laughter brings us in a state of let-go, acceptation and relaxation. Laughter dissipates negativity and depression. A deep belly laugh relaxes the muscles and refreshes the spirit. Laughter generates vitality, self-awareness, power, creativity, liveliness, zest and spontaneous pleaseure. And perhaps the biggest benefit of laughter is that it is free and has no know negative side effects.
