When it comes to clothing size...does the number on the tag matter to you as long as the clothing fits? Reason I ask...I know someone..and even though she is 'larger' she REFUSES to buy the size she actually wears, so her clothing is always tight b/c she pays attention to the number not the comfort.
So what do you think...does the number on the tag matter?
I'm in the as long as it fits and looks nice, I'm good with it category....
ETA: this could have gone in chit chat but I thought with everyone on the weight loss trail, it may get some attention here....

I have a sil who refuses to wear the size she should be, and yes at times they are too tight she is in denial.
I want them to fit thats the important part.

I buy for the fit...but I hate to see those bigger numbers on the tag! I have everything from a size 11 to a 4 and everything from a large to a extra small. It all depends on the brand, style and fit. Right now I can wear a sz 6 jean from American Eagle, but I have a sweatshirt from the Gap I wear that is a large. Also I have a sweatpant capris from walmart that are a 3/5 and too big, and I bought a pair of sweat/athletic pants from walmart that were a small and I could barley even get them on, there were so small! So I "try" not to pay attenion to the numbers/sizes cause if they fit is what matters. Esp if you are like me and very very short, if something fits, I don't care what size it is or what store it came from, I'm gonna buy it!!!

I am slowly graduating to the buy it because it fits. I will admit I used to buy for the size not the fit. I would cringe everytime the size I wanted wasn't fitting right....and still buy it. Now I am so uncomfortable that I say forget it and move on with the size that you are. There are better things to worry about.

I am a plus size woman. I can't stand to have clothes tight on me. I don't care what the label says. I cut them out a lot of the time. HA HA! But a lot of plus size women wear really tight clothes that I wouldn't want to be seen in if I were dead. I can't stand to see a large woman in tight knit pants like they are glued to her. YUCK!
I have sister that wear things to tight because she just won't go larger. I bought her some clothes at a yard sale one time. I thought they would fit. I cut the labels out so she could not see what size they were. She looked much better.

I can't go by labels b/c of my height. I am plus size and short. I have such a difficult time finding pants. I have pants, XL-petite thru 20plus, all Fashion Bug brand.

I usually don't care much as long as I'm in the 'Misses' range but as soon as I have to jumpt across the aisle into another department - or heaven forbid - to a whole different store, I'm reluctant to go.
I had the opposite problem recently, though. Thankfully I've been losing weight and in my mind I will be a specific size when I get to my goal weight. Well, half way through I tried on some new clothes and one pair of pants was that specific size - and they were too big! I freaked. I mean really! I knew I was only half way. I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of being a smaller size than THAT number. I have to tell you, that experience put me off my weight loss for a few weeks. I KNOW I have more to lose. I can feel it and see it. It's those single digit clothing sizes that scare me.

I do!
I was a 12 most of my life and after two kids ended up a 16, not bad. I was okay with it, but then it crept up to 16 being tight, and then I ventured into Avenue and bought nice pants, fit well, sized 18!!! The thought of buying pants from a plus store and I had always vowed I would not go above a size 16. That was my low point, I started working out and I went last week and bought size 16 jeans, they are stretch, but they fit well, look good, not glued on! and I am coming back down now! Tops I have always been a Large/Medium. it was the bottoms that were increasing.

The size really matters to me but I won't buy it if it is too tight. I say this because I worked hard to get back into the size I was before I got pregnant. It is just a type of measurement for me. Although with the sizes all over the place, it is hard to judge by that.
My MIL bulges out of most of her clothes and flipped out once when we bought her an XL sweatshirt. Having said that, I no longer buy her clothes.

This is me. Most jeans/pants are range from size 2-6, one 7. Certain shirts are large.
