We just had a sleepover birthday party for Brooke (12). I told my dh yesterday that I wouldn't be getting up for church, because one of us needed to stay home with the girls.

However, it got me thinking.....I remember when I was a "kid" and if I had a sleepover at a friends house, I would always get up and go with them. No big deal.

So, how did you grow up???

Do you bring your kids friends to church with you??? Would you allow your child to go to church with his/her friends??

I thought this was an interesting question, with today's society.

I never went to church with any other family growing up and nobody else ever went with us...

We have taken other kids with us to mass after a sleepover and my sons have gone to mass with other families after sleeping at someone else's house but we all belong to the same church.

I'd have no issue with my kids attending another church or house of worship.

We always went to church with the other family if they went. And, today we take kids with us if we have guests. We always tell the kids and parents that we will be attending church though. I would want to know if my children would be attending and where. Also, that way the child knows what to expect.

Because we have four kids and no more room in our vehicle, it's rare that we even allow the kids to have anyone over on Saturday night. And we don't normally let our kids go anywhere else on Saturday night either, unless they come home before church on Sunday morning...or that friend goes to our church too. That's because with everyone getting older and everything that's going on, we rarely get to do much as a family...and going to church as a family is one of those very important instances where we do get to do something as a family.

As a kid, I remember going to mass with friends on Sunday morning if I'd slept over the night before. No big deal. And while my folks didn't mind if I went to church with someone of another faith, it didn't "count" for me as having gone to church that week (I would have to go to mass either on Sat. afternoon or later on Sunday night).
I don't remember bringing too many friends to church with us after sleepovers at my house, but we did occasionally.

My dd is too young for sleepovers yet, but I would have no problem with her going to another house of worship on a Sunday morning. And I would be happy to bring any friends to church with us on a Sunday morning, providing the parents had no objections.

For us growing up, it was pretty much a rule that we were in church no matter what Saturday night plans were. If it was a sleepover then either the girls had to be picked up before we left or come with us to church. Same for if I went somewhere- either I had to go with them or Mom would come get me in time to go to my church. I think my best friend and I (plus our dates) were the only high schoolers in church the morning after prom!!!

My kids go to church with their friends every week. As long as their friends parents want to bring them and they want to go, I see nothing wrong with them going.

I used to enjoy going to church w/my friends and relatives in sleepovers. I liked seeing different things, even if they were different religions.

My kids are too young for sleepovers they are 5 1/2 & 2, but this is going to be a rule at our house. If kids want somebody to spend the night on Saturday night then they will go to church with us on Sunday morning, otherwise they will have to spend the night on Friday night. I will not mind if my kids go to church with their friends either.
