Hi all,

Here it is in a nutshell: We have no idea how we are going to make it once my maternity leave runs out. DH has been making only about $150/week for the last 8 or 9 months with his job as a flight instructor. He has an interview with another flight company in a couple weeks, and he needs to get hired! The starting pay there wouldn't be enough to cover all our bills, either, but at least he would get good benefits (I carry the benefits, now, but I'm not going to be returning to work). So he's been really focusing on studying FAA regulations and doing everything he can to be prepared for this.

BUT

he called me this morning from work... he accidentally crashed an airplane . He was going to be towing a banner over rush-hour traffic this morning, and as he was flying low to pick up the banner, he got a little too low, caught the wheel in soft mud, and flipped the plane over. Praise the Lord, he's fine. But now I'm not even sure he's still going to have the flight instruction job, let alone be hired by someone else with that on his record. This is so scary to me. Please pray that he will still get the job he needs! Thank you...

First off, thank goodness he's okay!!!! Are you eligible for Wic or food stamps? At least that would help you cut your food expenses a little bit. Saying a prayer for your family. I hope something comes up that will help you make ends meet.

With income that low, you should definitely qualify for some government help to get you through. Don't be ashamed to ask for the help!

Thank God that your dh is okay!! How scary that must have been for him - and for you when you heard about it.

I agree with the others - don't be afraid to ask for help. Be open to the possibilities, which may include temporary part-time work for you and/or your dh. I don't know the ways that God will provide for you, but I would just be open to the possibilities. I will pray for you as well.

Oops! my post made him sound like a worse pilot than he is. That wasn't what actually happened (I misunderstood him on the phone). When he went to pick up the banner, it got caught on his landing gear, which makes the plane impossible to fly. He tried to get it down on the ground as quickly as possible, but it was soft mud under him, so touching down made the plane flip.

I am more willing to ask for help than dh... he has a hard time getting past his pride. And he's trying to get his furniture-building business going on the side, while I try to figure out something I can do from home. I can't wait until my baby has a more predictable schedule that I can work around.

Yeah, we're trusting the Lord will provide for us somehow, and in a big way. I just hope that it doesn't mean moving to another state or anything.
