I friend of mine always tells a story about when he and his wife were first married and going to college & working with little money. One week they were so broke they only had enough for gas and no groceries. He said by Wednesday they were down to one can of pork and beans in the cupboard. They prayed that God would provide. And, every day the rest of the week someone invited them to dinner! I always think of them when people talk about answered prayers.
In my own life, the time that stands out the most to me is when I found out I was pregnant with DD. We had not planned on having any more children (although we hadn't taken any drastic measures, we were using birth control). Anyways, my dad had just been diagnosed with colorectal cancer at a young age of 54. We really ddn't know what his prognosis would be - much of it would depend on his attitude because he was in very advanced stages. Well, I found out I was pregnant with DD shortly after he was diagnosed and right before his surgery. Eveyone was really hoping we would have a girl because my niece was the only granddaughter and she was ten years old. Of course, it didn't really matter, but people always hope. Anyways, my dad is a HUGE fisherman! One day when he was walking to the mailbox, he found the cutest little girl's life jacket along the highway! It must have blown off of someone's boat or truck. He said it had to be a sign from God that I was having a girl! Meanwhile, Dad had a very successful surgery and started chemo & radiation. He still was confident that I was having a girl. Well, guess what? Little Emily was born to Grandpa's delight! And, they have the tightest bond. Grandpa is her favorite person in the world! And he rarely goes a day without seeing his little angel. I honestly believe that she is why he did so well with his cancer and recovery! How do you explain that kind of bond at such a young age? He was her favorite from day one! So, there's my little (or big) "evidence of God's presence" story for ya!
