I think a parent ahead of time should read books like this to see if they agree with what is written. Just because you disagree with someone's point of view doesn't make it right or wrong, it's just different, and pick out a different book. Andrea it was nice of you to warn people about this book as some believe very strongly and wouldn't want to teach their children these ideas so I'm not directing my comments at you.
I think it's nice some of these books are out there for people who don't believe in everything some Christians do. I lived with my dh for 1 year before I married him, I don't believe I was living in sin. I think people should do a trial run and see if they can live together. I want my children to grow up accepting of others and not being judgemental. Just because a religious leader says something is wrong doesn't make it so in my book. As long as you're not hurting animals or children what you do in your own home is your own business in my opinion.
It's nice to have these books out there for those people who aren't so strict in their beliefs as others. Not one set of beliefs is wrong or better than another's. Just my 2 cents.
