I am HOPING this question is simply to start conversation and not because you are considering doing it
YOU JUST HAD A BABY
I know I don't have to say this because I know you know, but for the others reading this, THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF. It takes time and effort. The "simple solutions" ARE too good to be true, and can be harmful. Do they work? Sure, temporarily and the weight WILL come back
When you work at it and it comes off gradually it will STAY off. If you take a quick fix, it's exactly that: a QUICK temporary fix. NOT permament solution.
Give yourself time to get the weight off. Start with walking every day, or three times a week, for at least a half hour, and then gradually build from there.
Slimfast is a cement that builds in your stomach to make you feel full. Does that sound appetizing to you?

I have to agree with Christy...Give yourself some time! As far as trying slim-fast...yes I have...did I see results? No, and that was prob b/c that tiny little shake for breakfast and then for lunch did NOTHING to control appetite (This was years ago before they came out wit hte optima).
If you plan out your meals, making healthier choices (lots of veggies!) and incorporate exercise (when you're ready...how old is the baby? ) you can acheive the same results as slim fast and without the price tag!!!

Are you sure you're thinking of Slimfast? It's not a simple solution or a quick fix at all. I looked at a can the other day and it's a diet of about 1300 calories, the same as Weight Watchers or any others. If I remember correctly, a typical day would be a shake at breakfast, a snack, a shake at lunch and 1/2 a sandwich, a snack, a sensible dinner and an evening snack. I think it is a good solution for someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spend at a place like LA Weight Loss. It seems like it is pretty easy to work into your life and then to go off, by removing the shake and adding something else. I personally have never done it but I don't think it's harmful at all. If it helps someone lose weight, I think it is much better than remaining overweight.

Yes, I am saying simple because if you have ever tried it, you would know that it's not enough for your body to function off of. Imagine having only shakes as meals. How long do you think you can sustain that? What do you think happens once your body goes through withdrawals for FOOD? I'm talking about long term effects, which is why I consider it a simple temporary solution.

A few years back, my Dr. informed me that it's got too much sugar and it dehyrates you. This is something people will do to squeeze into a dress at a wedding, but not a long term life choice. I have tried almost every "diet" ( I hate that word) on the planet, and they work short term, not permanently, simply because I cannot imagine living a life without bread, an occasional candy bar, etc. It just isn't a healthy way to live, so restricted. 5 balanced meals a day, cutting out refined carbs, and focusing more on fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains is the best way to go. That's a lifestyle, not a prison like some of the other diets out there. I just don't want you to be disappointed when you lose 5 pounds of water weight and gain 10 back. I'm not saying that to be rude, I'm just speaking from personal experience.

I tried Slimfast about 10 years ago. I was starving all the time. It didn't work for me.

I only ever used it successfully for the 3pm pickup. It is almost pure sugar.
I agree w/Christy, especially if your nursing, and even if you're not. Give your body time. The experts are now saying at least 6 mos. after having a baby. It truly takes your body 1-2 years to return to normal - not saying you have to wait that long, and it's of course, no license to go hog wild, but don't do anything drastic. Stick w/your fresh fruits, veggies, and good proteins and carbs. Believe me, you will need all that to keep up. Be kind to yourself - if you're run down, it will stop you from enjoying being a mom to such beautiful kids.

That's what I mean though. You don't have only shakes for meals. You only have two shakes a day, one for lunch and one for breakfast. But you also can have a sandwich or other food with lunch. You eat a normal (healthy) dinner and three snacks (fruits, veggies, etc) throughout the day so the shakes are a only a small part of your daily calories. Like I said, I've never tried it but calories wise it is very similar to what I eat currently. I had a friend try it, which is why I know anything about it, and I thought it was a good way for someone with limited funds to diet. She likes it and when she lost what she wanted (10 pounds) she cut the shakes and added something with similar calories. I have had a shake for breakfast though it it was plenty to keep me going to lunch, but in the plan you have a late morning snack anyway. I'm certainly not pushing the plan, as I don't think it's perfect, but I know how hard it is to lose weight and if this is what helps someone, I think it is WAY healthier than doing nothing.
