I have a problem I first noticed one day in the bathtub. It felt like I had a cut going across my lower stomach. It got better so I didn't think anything of it. Then last night this same region was really itchy. So itchy I couldn't stand it and kept itching at it because I thought maybe a bug bite or a skin irritation, etc. My lower belly has a pooch as many of us do that have have a few children and or are overweight but right under this pooch it looks like someone took a knife and cut part way through the skin! I was really shocked to see this and wonder if I could of ripped it open with all of my scratching. Does anyone else have problems like this? I put hydrocortizone cream on it but what is causing this? Maybe my extra weight but I've been this weight for quite a while and never had this issue before. Any insite would be helpful. I don't think my pants or underwear are cutting into me because it's not at the pantyline or the waistline.

Gosh, I don't know what that could be. If it were me, I'd probably make an appointment with a doc, just to get it checked out and ease my worried mind.

Ok so I am going to ask you if it smells at all my grandma just got over this exact thing it was a yeast infection. You need to dress it with towels so that it will dry up and eat lots of yougart... you can get some topical med for it but I think while my gram was in the hospital the just washed it really well and then kept it dry you could just call your doctor and ask or ask-a-nurse if you on't have a doctor but ...that is what I think it is.. Hers also would get better and then worse before it got properly taken care of.

I have that problem sometimes too, I had got pregnant 9 years after having my tubes cut, tied and burned... anyway I was hemmoraging inside so they rushed me into OR and cut me hip to hip.
Now I have a little pouch, I only weigh 110 lbs but still have one above the scar!!! the cut is right at the bikini line and especially in the summer it will itch, I use Desitin ointment, my scar gets raw and will crack too but the desitin works really well. smear it on...

It sounds like you have a fungal rash. i get those and they are very itchy & you will scratch it until it's red/raw/bleeding. Keep the area clean & dry. Use an anti-fungal cream (hydrocortizone stuff will not help & maybe make it worse). Look for a cream in the athlete's foot section of the drug store. Tinactin is one of them. If that does not work, get a Rx cream from the doctor. I have tons of them. Also, desitin medicated powder applied to the area to keep it dry.

Wow! Thank you for the info. I've never thought about using Desitin. I have always used the hydrocortizone cream in the past, but it never really took the itch away.

Lotrimin or Lomisil. Those are the ones that are good. Couldn't recall the names earlier.

Thanks ladies. I will try the antifungal cream and see if that helps. What great advice. That's something I never thought of.

You mentioned there is a pooch - is it from that, where some skin/fat overlaps and kind of lays on the skin underneath? If so, yeah, it's probably a fungus. I get it under my boobs once in a while, especially if it's warm and humid and I haven't been able to shower for two days (igh!). Try putting powder there for maintenance after it clears up.
