Girls anyone else like me, uses too much salt on their food and cant seem to give it up?

I have a coffee addiction but noticed if I drink enough water I dont seem to need the coffee as often or as strong as I did.

I would really like to give up using salt at the table I know I use too much. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

It really is a problem if you have water retention and its a bad health move to use too much of it.

so what do you use in its place? Ive tried not putting the salt actually on the dinner table but that doesnt work (willpower absolutely nil)

What else can you use as a taste substitute ?

Id welcome ideas an thanks for reading

I don't know if you're doing it for the sodium , but there is a low-sodium salt substiture my Uncle uses, it tastes just like reg salt, I can't tell the difference. Morton also makes 'salt substitutes'. Do you have Morton brand salt over there?

Thanks for replying 2bearsmom. No we dont have that brand but we do have the low salt substitutes like the one you mentioned.

But I think I use more of them than the regualr sea salt.

Im coming round to the thought Ill have to go cold turkey and just give it up altogether.but its really difficult. Ive made other healthier choices food wise but this seems to be my brick wall

I am a salt addict. I salt first taste later. It drives my dh crazy. I salt the heck out of popcorn and french fries, when I eat them. I do buy Salt Sense though. It has like half the sodium of regular salt. Besides using that or some other salt subsitute, I don't know what else you could use. I don't think I could ever totally give up salt, although I have tried to cut way back. Good luck to you if you do give it up!

Anne, do you have Mrs. Dash products over there? They have a whole line with lots of flavors. Check out the website to see what you think about them, they have them here right in the supermarket by the spices. www.mrsdash.com
