I've had a headache for three days. I have been taking Advil, but the headache comes back. Yesterday it woke me up at 4:30am and I couldn't go back to sleep. I wake up in the morning with it and it lasts all day. It is in my forehead.
I thought that I might be gritting my teeth, but my jaw isn't popping or anything. Any ideas? I am breastfeeding, so I am limited in what I can take.

Have you had your blood pressure checked? High blood pressure can cause a headache. Or do you have allergies?

Wow - 3 days seems like a long time to have a headache. Have you had a chance to ask your doc yet to see what he thinks? I pray that it goes away soon - what a pain! (no pun intended)

No alergies and usually my blood pressure is pretty low. But maybe I will run into a store and check it at one of those machines in a minute.

I haven't been to the doctor yet, I haven't had time. It isn't interfereing with my daily activities, it is just a nuesance. I will maybe go tomorrow if it doesn't go away.

Are you drinking enough fluids...I know with me a headache is my signal when I need some water or I'm not drinking enough. My kids also get headaches when they are lacking fluids and getting dehydrated. I would also get headaches that woke me up in the middle of the night and lived on Motrin every day. Since I upped my water intake during the day...I haven't had a headache in almost 2 months!!

I would call my doc if I had a headache for three days...but that's me.

I agree with Mom of 4 Are you drinking enough fluids? Second, if you are taking an OTC pain reliever every 4 -6hours, you may be becoming immune to it...I went through something similar last year, I had an almost constant headache that just wouldn't go away...I was taking extra strength Tylenol, still didn't go away, I went to the Dr's and had it checked out, he told me to stop taking the Tylenol for 2 days (Yes I would still have a headache, it was almost like I was in withdrawal) and then resume Tylenol again (I'm allergic to aspirin)...I tried it and it worked!

Blood pressure is normal...I will try to increase the amount of water - that could be it. Although that salt, lime, and tequila sounds pretty good

Another suggestion is to maybe check with a chiropractor. I used to get these intense headaches all in my head and shoulders and neck that would last for a week or more. I found out something was pinching a nerve, so just a few visits got everything back into position in my neck, and now, I visit maybe once a year, if that, to keep everything feeling fine. I don't know why I spent all those years in so much pain when that was the answer!
