I am in so much pain right now. I barely got any sleep last night. I tried tylenol, but it didn't even touch the pain. Now my neck hurts from trying to "sleep"sitting up. Help....,please.

I would take ibuprofen...you can take up to 800 mg. Well my doc has told me take 800 twice in my life, so I think it's okay but that's up to you! I don't think acetaminaphen works for my family, I haven't bought it in years...

Do you have a doctor's appt? You might need antibiotics. Otherwise, maybe a heating pad? Hot water bottle?

I didn't know you were pregnant...

Why don't you just call your ob today? You shouldn't have to suffer thru to your appt on Tuesday! Someone should be on call...right? And see what they think...and yes, your ob can prescribe antibiotics or whatever you might need for your earache.

Heat always helps an earache. I took one of my kids to the ER before because they were SCREAMING in pain. As soon as the triage nurse saw her she put a warm pack (those kind you pop to activate) and put it on her ear, and she was asleep within 5 mins. Since then I've used a heating pad or warm pack several times to alleviate the pain. Won't take care of the underlying problem, but will alleviate the pain. HTH

Garlic oil.

They sell garlic oil in the health food section of your drug store or in natural food stores. It comes in a little bottle with an eyedropper. Warm the bottle in hot water then put a drop or two in each ear. It really does work. The garlic oil has an antibacterial effect.

I personally wouldn't put anything in my ear until I had talked to my doctor...but that's me.

I've used this for my kids. I personally have never as an adult had an ear infection though. I also put hydrogen peroxide in the kids ears when they have one and if they just have a cold. I know hyland's also makes ear pain stuff and most pharmacies like Rite Aid, CVS and Eckerd carry their stuff, it's probably in the baby section.

Hope you're feeling better!!

I actually will use sweet oil and drop some in the hurting ear and will sleep with a heating pad. My one friend actually will do something really gross and her family swears by it- I never ever will try it and frankly it really grosses me out! Pee into a cup and get a dropper full of your pee and put it in your ear. They are really into old ways of treating a lot of things - too gross for my blood!

I was going to say "sweet oil" too. I bought some a while back, only to later have a pharmacist tell me that it's nothing more than olive oil. Warm it up first though, and do the heating pad as well.

I never heard of putting garlic oil in your ears. I'll have to look into that. But if I can find a good home remedy (something I already have on hand) I'd go with that first.

And I agree about contacting your Dr. before your appt. Waiting will only make it harder to cure.
