I have lost 45 pounds in three months since baby #3 was born. I CLEARLY have about 10-20 pounds to go. Things kind of just stopped after 45 pounds. I just started being super healthy, and I have gotten moving, AND.... I am not losing weight! I have lost some inches, I do look slimmer, and feel better, BUT no more weight is coming off. I think I need to cut more calories and move more? Anyone have any tips?!

I think that you have reached one of those plateaus. Congratulations on your 45 pounds in three months. How did you do it? I would like at your work out routine. Maybe do more cardio and don't eat so much carbs maybe. Good luck!!

I think you're right. I am reading about new workouts right now online.

The first 20 pounds or so were easy. The baby was 10 lbs, and then fluid. I didnt diet at all the first 6 weeks, and lost another 10 just being active within the house. Now I am walking and doing the stairs at work (6 flights---just about KILLS me) and that has taken off the rest of those pounds and the inches. I think I need to work on my water intake... I am insanely in love with Pepsi.....

You know my dh has that same love affair with Pepsi also! Are you nursing also? Just keep it up & send me some of your luck my way. I am still trying to lose my baby weight & it's been 2 years.

Well, I can only speak for what's working for me. I am doing Body For Life and I LOVE it. I've lost 13-14 pounds in 6 weeks, down one jean size so far and confident I can get down another within the next 6 weeks. It involves 6 workouts a week--3 HIGH intensity interval training and 3 weights days. Six meals a day, each including 1 portion quality carb, one portion lean protein and add a veggie to two meals a day. Lots of water. Al least 8-10 glasses, I usually do more.

You'd need to research it more to get started if you were interested, but I just thought I'd give you the basics and you can decide if you want to know more.

I believe that you can not go by the scale alone. I have only lost 8 pounds; however, I have dropped 2 sizes. I have lost inches big time in my hips and waist. People believe I have lost alot more than that.

A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. However, a pound of muscle takes up way LESS space than a pound of fat. So you are probably losinbg fat but gaining muscle (which is not a bad thing). Also, this will cause you to have a higher resting metabloic rate (meaning you burn more calories at rest).

If you have questions about food and nutrition consumption either talk with a personal trainer who has a sport nutrition certificate or a nutitrionist. If you cut too many calories your body will go into starvation mode. I know at our Y you can go for a one time thing for $40. I think that is worth your health.

I understand that frustration and it's always goign to be those last few pounds. They are the hardest to lose ~ especially after just having a baby. They will come off though. If you stick to it and do it the RIGHT way (no dieting, or magic pills) those pounds will come off. The longer it takes them to come off, the longer they stay off.

For me though, I go by inches. My pounds rarely if ever show any progress. My frame carries bulky muscle so I know when I am working out, I will gain more muscle mass and therefore my weight will actually go up. It will plateau and then come down again, but not too much. I judge my progress with my clothing and lately I'm proud to say I have thrown out a ton of clothes that are TOO BIG FOR ME ! YAY!!

So stick to it girl. Inches are JUST as valuable as pounds, if not more so. Celebrate the smaller goals and you will see progress.
