This was an email sent out from my Step mom about my niece Amanda.

Please pray for my granddaughter, Amanda, who is 11 years old. My two grandchildren moved to Kentucky with their mother this past weekend. Before she could enter her new middle school up there, it was required that Amanda get a physical exam. My son took her to a doctor here in Dothan two weeks ago and during the exam he discovered an irregular heartbeat and unusually fast pulse rate. He wouldnt sign off on the physical exam form required by the school until further investigation was performed. Her mother took her to a pediatrician in Kentucky yesterday. She confirmed the irregular heartbeat and said she also thought she heard a murmur as well. Both doctors stressed that Amanda is not to exert herself in any way. In fact, they told her to act like an old woman who can barely get around like her grandmother! When Amanda asked the doctor yesterday if she could join the school band, the doctor even went so far as to tell her she could not march with the band and not even choose an instrument where she had to blow very hard such as a trumpet, saxophone or clarinet.

As much as I was heartbroken that their mother chose to move the children out-of-state, I realize now that if it had not been for that move, we would not have known about this condition. God truly does work in mysterious ways.

Amanda has an appointment next week with a pediatric cardiologist in Louisville who will be able to tell us what we are dealing with.

I have attached 2 pics of Amanda (one with her brother, Jamie) taken just two days ago on their first day of school in Kentucky.

PLEASE pray for Amanda. This child has had MY heart from the day she was born and we are extremely close.

Thank you,

Yes, God does work in mysterious ways! I'm praying for Amanda and that everything will be fine.

I also had a heart murmur when I was very young, but it turned out just to be an unusually loud heart.

UPDATE:
Today Amanda's mom was called by the school nurse to come get Amanda. She was complaining about being dizzy and that her legs felt like they were going to collapse. Well they took her to the ER and they ran a multitude of test on her. The Pediatric Cardiologist said the she does in fact have a irregular heart beat (it has an extra beat) and that she has a murmur but that it's in the top of her heart so it's not life threatening and can disappear with age. However, she also has a problem with (they used a big word) something about blood pooling in her legs, which gives me the impression her blood isn't circulating from her heart to her feel and back like it should. They told her that she has to drink AT LEAST 1 gallon of water a day to help resolve the issue. They kept her 3 hours on an IV to help get the fluids in her she needed. Other than that her heart is ok for now. Thank you all for your prayer and please continue to keep her in your thoughts.

Thanks,
Andrea

She will definately be in my prayers. As a mother with 2 kids it is always heartbreaking to hear of anything like this with anyone's kids. My prayers are with you and your family.
