I have been interested in joining our local Curves (ther is 2 of them)- everytime I think of joining is after they have a special (I don't want to pay the "large" starting fee!). I better start paying attention to when they are running specials!

I went to Curves for 2 years. It works if you have the time to go at least 3 days a week -- at least for me it was that way. It got to be that I didn't have the time and it wasn't worth the money to go a couple of times a month. I do miss it at times as it was my time to myself. Maybe someday I'll join again.

I went to Curves for about a year. I lost 22+ inches. Can't say enough good things about it. It was 'me' time & I loved it.

I heard that none of them have any childcare. Is this true? It makes it harder!

I signed up about a month ago and I love it! It gives me time alone, with supportave people, and most importantly there are woman of ALL sizes there. It helps because you see that its something you can continue when you are as fit as you like, and also that there are people who have a lot more to lose than you. My curves has a wall dedicated to showing who has lost how much weight and inches, and has constant competitions and games to keep you motivated! Its fun, easy, quick, and all the woman are Soooo friendly!

Been going to curves here since March 9th. Went 5-6 days a week up until Memorial day weekend (got my wisdom teeth out), and have been going at least 3-4 days a week since(after that two week hiatus). In total, have lost 14 inches and almost 14 pounds. I like it, and feel that knowing it's only 30 minutes, actually motivates me to "get it over with". I keep my calorie intake under 1200 per day, so that helps too.
We go two laps, and each circuit is only 30 seconds not 60. So you go as hard as you can each 30 seconds and you might work up a sweat. IMO, paying for it is more motivation to go, otherwise, I'd still be sitting on the couch. Everyone's different, but if nothing else, it's a start to get yourself motivated. I do, however, recommend you go more than the recommended 3 days per week, since most of the people I see only 3 times a week, barely do anything while htey are there except talk, and then wonder why they haven't lost any lbs/inches come weigh in time. DUH!
Only downside is, no childcare, but for MOST people it's possible to find someone to watch their kids for about 45 minutes to an hour per day. Good luck!

I joined for a year and did lose weight, and I felt comfortable there. All ages and sizes worked out and it was nice that it was all women. The one downside I found was that it had extremely limited hours that just did not work with my schedule. They opened early, but closed for an hour at lunch time, and were generally closed for the night by 6 or 7pm. They are all run independently, so that may not be the case in your area, but just an FYI to check out... Good luck!

I do not have any good experiances with Curves. May just be our local one. I HATED the hours. The only people they catered to was the "early birds" they opened at 5 every morning, but closed at 7 (with a lunch break/closing at 12-1:30 every day!!! On Saturdays they opened at 10 am and closed at 2. They weren't open on Sundays at all. I know a lot of people who have had great experiances with it, I have not. Here are the reasons I did not...(In MY area, these are the problems)
1. they pushed all of their "Extras" as much as they could!!! All of their vitamins, shirts and things, it drove me NUTZ!!!
2. I love cardio, they have NO treadmills (it's the way their program works), it hated that, because that is something I don't actually mind doing.
3. I hated the music you had to listen to there. It was not motivating me, nor was it music that I would ever in a million years listen to.
4. I felt like I wasn't getting a good work out- no sweat (means that your burning calories)
5. They would use their products and tell me things like "OH, when you signed up it said that you wanted to loose weight to have a better sex life...Working out is great, but you ABSOLUTELY NEED this womans vitamin that we sell so you'll loose more weight and look good for your husband" I don't think it's a positive environment when every time you walk in there they try to "UPsale" you on all of their pathetic products! I actually started to HATE going there, just because of it!
