I'm sorry that it still isn't working for you. I swear that if I was paying that much for a pill, it should work for me within 20 minutes.

As for the apetite suppressant, I used to get the mental munchies.....you know, when you're not really hungry but you figure you just want to grab something anyway. With the fastin, I don't even get the mental munchies. I just don't want much to eat at all. I tend to have to remind myself to eat. I don't know that it is for everyone, but for me it is doing a good job.

I am starting fastin today. It is a prescription drug which tricks your body into believeing you are eating. THis speeds up your metabolism. With hypothyroidism,I need something to boost my metabolism so I can get the weight off. I am hoping that between making myself exercise as well as eat right, when the weight finally comes off I will be able to keep it off. I was un aware that fastin was an appetite suppressant. I thought it was just a metabolism booster. Hmmm. I really didn't want an appetite suppressant. Maybe I will still try it. I have to do something and gastric bypass it out of the question in my book.

When you get this prescribed, does insurance usually pay for it? If not is it expensive? Good luck with it!!

Well I went today and got my fastin. I have taken one for today, and feel a little "different". That may be do to the fact that I have been up today since 2:30 am. Yeah, a little punchy. I will see what tomorrow brings. Anyway, my insurance did pay for it and so my co pay for the generic was $10. I figure that isn't too bad. I just hope it works.

Ugh! I am not taking fastin anymore. I feel awful and on top of that I found out it is primarily an appetite suppressant. That I don't need. That is a behavior I need to learn to control on my own. Starting tomorrow it is just diet and exercise. I will let you guys know what I find works, but I am miserable right now.

well maybe i need to switch pills, hehe. because i am like you--i get the mental munchies. right now, i am stuffed beyond control because i got upset with my hubby and just ate something, even though i wasn't hungry at all. he just peed me off so bad...i took it out on a bunch of sweets! and while it was only a bowl--i feel so stuffed, it's like i'm going to burst!

if a drug could curb my mental munchies, i'd be whoa...cool

so maybe fastin would work for me. where do you get yours from? doctor, overthecounter, online, etc.?

I just ordered a natural weight loss supplement called "Fuco-thin" (made by Garden of Life). It should be here Friday... so we will see if it works or not. ray:

cindy...hopefully it will work for you!

well...i just made a super long post, that got erased. so that sucks.

to make a long story short, i am bloated, constipated, and irritated. this is day five since i started alli and i have not had a healthy poop since friday, the day BEFORE i started. most people hate the side effects of alli, but i'd give just about anything right now to be able to poo my brains out! i am in pain, and the bloating is horrible.

not only that, but i gained 2 lbs!

i know that the weight gain is from the bloating. i honestly look like i have gained 10 lbs in 2 days...my belly is that extended. my entire back is killing me. somehow, i don't think this was what should have happened LOL.

despite it all, i am surprisingly lighthearted about this. i can't stop giggling at myself. i don't know why, maybe to take away my frustration at this not working for me.

i continuously read about the people losing 2 lbs per week on alli, and those who eat a little fat and run to the bathroom...and i just want to scream at them! my intestines are probably writhing in pain right now...darning me to an eternity in the pits of fire LMAO...

right now i feel like, "why me?"

i am considering switching doctors. i really need help with this weight control situation...and i have not been satisfied by past doctors. i just need someone that is going to sit down with me and come up with a feasible and doable plan for me, whether it's drugs, or surgery, or some type of easy to do diet change. because i just can't do this on my own...not even with the help of an "fda approved over the counter drug."

blah.

maybe i'll give it about 2 days to run through me (if i ever poo again)...and then i'll talk to a doctor about this.

the site says to drink lots of water to aid with the side effects. i drunk 5 cups yesterday, and i'll admit, it did alleviate some of the pain. today i didn't even take the pills, and i'm back in a ton of pain AGAIN! so i am stumped right now...not really sure what is what and where it's coming from. i haven't read too much info about people being CONSTIPATED from alli...but i sure am one of them!

que sera, sera...what will be, will be (or not).

*sigh*

woohoo!

i went! and then i went again! and again! they were relatively small, but they were SOMETHING lol.

thank heavens--at first i thought i killed myself from the waist down!

now...i'm not sure if i should continue or not. i am tempted. i may start in the morning again, depending on how i feel. if i do though, i will be sure to drink LOTS and LOTS of water with the pill (read that 12 oz per pill is a good amount)

well...

here's my update!

i haven't lost a single pound with the alli! despite using it correctly AND having a very good time on it, no weight came off after 1 month of use. i had treatment effects, but they WERE controllable...i never once had an accident, or used the bathroom without knowing i had to...so overall i do recommend it, as it is not as bad as some make it seem...

but it just didn't knock any weight off me. and that's odd, because i WAS noticing i used the bathroom ALOT more, and i saw the oily stools, but hmm...

now...very odd, but my neurologist has me on a small dosage of topamax. and one of the side effects? you guessed it...weight loss.

i am very iffy about this drug, so i am taking it VERY slowly with it. i took too much of it for 3 days and had some crazy side effects, among them, loss of appetite. so i am sure that if this works for me, and my dosage ups, i will lose some weight with this drug. because for those 3 days, i ate only because i had to, NOT because i wanted to...i had no real craving for anything, and guess what? sweet things turned me off! so hmm...i may get the help i need after all...provided that i can handle the other effects of this med.
