My 15 month old dd has an MRSA infection in her thumb. We tried an antibiotic that was suppose to kill it but didn't. Now we are using a topical antibotic for the next 10 days in hopes that this will kill off the infection. If not we will have to do intravenous antibotics everyday for a month. Is there anyone else out there that has delt with this before. I've read up on it on the internet but I'm starting to get really worried. The thumb that is infected is the one she sucks and right now it's all bandaged up. So oon top of everything else she's not sleeping because she doesn't have a thumb to suck. Help!

my grandmother has MRSA and now she has become tolernt to most antibiotics and can only get them to work threw IV. I hope that things get cleared up soon for you. Also make sure to keep everything sanitized. I am sorry about the sleep thing because of the thumb sucking have you tried a binkie? they make so many diffrent shaped ones now. keep us posted

My dd8 also has MRSA. Hers flares as impetigo on her face every 6-8 weeks. We have been using a topical antibiotic and an oral one (HEAVY duty) also (with flair-ups). I haven't been told that she will need to do IV antibiotics as of yet. I also got terrified when I read up on it on the internet also.

Make sure that everyone in the house is washing their hands frequently and that no one shares a wash cloth with her.

Hopefully she will heal fast and you woln't have to brave the IV route.
