Last year my local Y promoted wellness and sponsored a WALKTOBER event. Each member was given a pedometer and told to record their daily steps. I think if we all have one or want one, we too should bring WALKTOBER back for OCTOBER.

Weekly we can give our totals and encourage each other to keep on moving

I think I'm gonna give this a go. I have a pedometer, but my son likes to wear it!! lol I'll have to pry it away from him, but I am so stoked about this!!! What a wonderful idea!!

I can't take all the credit. I stole this idea from my local Y. They did this program last year and it really motivated me to get my step count up each day.

BTW: if you have small children and do a lot of things outdoors and walk with them on small walks around the block etc, 10,000 steps is VERY doable. Most days I was over that goal by like 3-4000 more steps! However, just to get your started, it might be a good idea to start at 10,000 for your first week and then bump it up the following week if it's been achieved already!

Good luck everyone!
