Here's my dilemma: I grew up in Philadelphia as a Catholic child and went to Catholic school and church for 14 years. I moved to Texas and went through my rebel phase and did not attend church because I did not feel that sanctity and safety that I felt in my own church. I am going on 7 years, no church, and I despise it. I am getting married to a man of a different religion (southern Baptist) and we are trying to find a church to go to together. I have been attending a Catholic church, here and there, but it is too far. I want to find a place for the both of us, new to the both of us so we are starting on even ground, and a place where we can grow old at. Anyone had this mixed religion conflict? I don't know if I should meet with some priests (or pastors) at different churches, and visit a few. I do not know the protocol. Any suggestions?

Pick some churches and attend - thats the only way you'll get a good feel. Attend mass, pick up some pamphlets if its a new religion to you, see how you like it. Talk to the priest/pastor, he/she'll be able to answer your questions. We just switched from catholic to episcopalian and its the best move we've made for our family. Good luck in your search. The right church will find you!

I agree. Attending and reading the pamphlets are the best way to go about it. Plus, the church should offer a class for new attenders. At ours the pastor gave a history of the church, what the church believes and teaches. And he answers any questions we have. Plus he fed us Very important.
