My dh's and my own new year's resolutions is to lose weight. My sis is giving us her orbitrek. I got on it the other day and I could only do 10 min (stopping every couple for a break) . I'm so out of shape. Dh laughed when I told him this. I have never seen him exercise . I was wondering, for those of you who are trying to lose weight, how often do you exercise and for how long? I want a plan I can stick w/ and that will work for me. I tend to lose motivation quickly. Thanks in advance.

Honestly right now I am lucky if I can manage getting in 3 workouts a week- for around 45 minutes (When really working out hard I worked out 5 days a week-2 strength training and 3 days cardio). Truthfully I have not really did a great workout this week- I have done at least 10 minutes each day. After the holiday madness I am going to get back into the swing of things (I plan on getting back to the 5 days a week plan)!

When I started working out earlier this year- after 10 minutes- I truly thought I was going to die! I did manage to fit in 30 minutes a day- take your time doing it- if you can't breathe- slow your pace some to where you can have a conversation without being breathless. After about 2 weeks you should be getting comfortable getting in your time. Always remeber it takes around 6 weeks to make a new habit- if you "give up" and fall off that wagon- make sure you get back on it! Good luck to you- your body will thank you for it!

Currently I do 5 days a week of at least 60-90 mins each day. But I had to build up to that. I remember when I first started out I was exhausted, my face was really red & flushed and thought I was going to drop! But I built up my stamina and look forward to going!
Take your time and you will get into it.

I'm trying to maintain my weight more than lose it, but I typically work out 5 days per week for about 30 minutes (sometimes more). 3 days per week mixed strength training and cardio (kettlebells and elliptical) and the other two straight cardio (elliptical, sometimes walking when the weather is nice).
