So who gets the bikini wax done? Brazilian style? Any experiences or advice you could send my way? I'm thinking of going to get it done, but I want to know some more specifics on it. what is standard procedure? What should I look for? Any questions to ask before I choose the salon that does it? What should I expect? How often will I need it redone? Thanks ladies

I don't get it done on a regular basis but I have had it done in the past. I got a Brazilian once and I won't be doing that again! LOL! The technician had me get on all fours on the table. Enough said. I've had friends tell me that they didn't have to do that but lie with one leg down and then the other one practically straight up.

I would suggest, would be to take some ibuprofen about an hour before your appointment. I've also found exfoliating the day before I go to be helpful. You might not want to make the appt close to when your period starts, I think for some people, you might be more sensitive. The gal that waxes me (usually just eyebrows nowandays) told me that she advises people to avoid showering or taking a bath the few hours before the wax. Something about how the hairs absorb water, making them a little harder to remove.

Talk to the technician and tell her what you want specifically. She'll have you remove all your clothing from the waist down. She might trim the hair before waxing. And then she'll start moving from one area to the next. The salon I go to does offer paper 'panties' but they're really pretty useless. LOL If you're shy, bikini and brazilians are not for you!

Good luck!

it hurts like a sob!!but after it is done specially if u r going on vacation it is worth it. go to a repitable salon/spa , and make sure this is not her 1st waxing. i used to give them and would take one of the wax strips fold them in half to kinda wrap around the edge of the underware by where iwas waxing, also what helps a bit is when they spinkle a dusting of like baby power on the skin prior to , it gives wax something else to stick to besides all skin. afterwards she should put on either ice ,cooling cream. good luck

motherofall6 it hurts like a sob!! Yes it does! Unless you need it done I would not advise it. I did it right before vacation and it was great for the week but I don't think the pain was worth it!JMO Also-If you are not actually wearing a bikini I would tell them b/c there are some painfull areas that they would not have to wax esp. if you just want the sides done. good luck

Yes- it does hurt- BUT if you get it done often enough- you get used to it (just like getting your lip done- hurts like all- but you get used to it!). I have not got one in a few years- so if I was to go right now- I would probably tell you to run away and don't get it done !

Just depends on the person...I actually don't find waxing all that painful, even when I got it done the first time.
