It really wouldn't bother me, one way or the other, whether they keep it, remove it, whatever. It'll kinda throw off the rhythm of the pledge by removing a line, but otherwise, I don't care.

I feel like they should leave it, we are a nation under God after all and what does it hurt to leave it there to remind us of this?~JMO.

Some people just don't understand the diverse nature of this country, and that the government is separate from religion.

The concept of "separation of church and state" has been misunderstood. It was originally meant to keep the gov't out of religion NOT the other way around.

I don't think anyone should be "forced" to say "under God" if they don't want to, but I also don't want someone to take it out just b/c they are offended by something that was not meant to be offensive in any way.

It's good to keep government out of religion, but it's also good to keep religion out of government, unless you want to live in religious state, like they do in the middle east. Some doors should remain shut because if it's opened a little bit, you never know what's going to come rushing through - in either direction.

Maybe they should get rid of the pledge all together!

The phrase "under God" should be removed. It is unconstitutional.

Admendment 1 of the constitution reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech..."

Congress did declare that the 'official' pledge of alligance to the USA contains the words 'under God' so they passed an unconstitutional law. That phrase isn't needed to declare one's patriotism and dedication to the country. Not only did Congress pass a law respecting an establishment of religion, they are also abridging freedom of speech. A person trying to declare their patriotism can't do it without either modifying the pledge (and thus not saying the 'official' one) or modifying their convictions (which thereby throws saying the pledge into question.) All the arguments about songs and money are separate issues.

If it doesn't make a difference whether or not the phrase is in there, why bother having the phrase at all?

For all the God-haters of this world they should be very happy about it!!! I already see a few that it just seems to tickle them to death. ...how sad.

Just because you believe in separation of church and state does not mean you are a "God-hater"!
