Some things never change.
I have very strong beliefs, and I don't back down. Imagine my disappointment when I see so many who disagree with me for reasons I find incredulous. But, sorry - to my mind I've never replied to you before, so I don't know your opinions on issues. Some people I've seen their names enough to know, but I don't recall bantering w/ you before. Sorry!

There are issues where I have no opinion at all - try a death penalty thread sometime.

I use to be karen53, calimari. You and I have disagreed many, many times.
I also don't back down on what I believe either.

Ummm....do you know what an atheist is? We don't believe in God. Any God - be it the Christian bible god or Zeus or Thor or Krishna or whoever. Therefore, we are not God-haters. It's like calling us leprechaun-haters or pixie-haters. We can't hate what we don't believe exists.

We can, however, be very disappointed in the attitudes and behaviors of people who claim to follow the dictates/principals of their faiths, yet their actions or words reveal otherwise.

And I agree w/ Aliadam that there is a difference between freedom of religion and freedom from religion. I would personally love to be free FROM religion, but too many people think it's their duty to shove it at other people who have no interest.

"Under God" should be removed because it is a suggestion, hint or recommendation from civil government regarding a matter that involves a duty owed exclusively to God. No such authority was ever granted to the U. S. Government. Besides, it's an impious trespass upon a subject matter over which God claims absolute and exclusive jurisdiction.

I doesn't even have legitimate authority to make suggestions regarding religion, except that it may suggest that all men are obligated to render homage to the Creator as dictated by th Creator. If a man believes he has no Creator, it follows that he has no duties to him.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it......
