... dreading something (say going to the dentist in 2 hours and 7 minutes) what do you do to calm down?

Currently I'm on MommySavers!

Distraction works well if you don't have any Valium on hand . Try exercising, reading a book, cleaning, etc.

I guess it depends on what it is. I am sure in the past, I have tried to do something to get it off my mind. But when it is something real bad(for me, going to the dentist) I pray. I think I did ok last time.

Poor girl, I can't imagine you getting calm after some of today's threads . I dunno, do I have time to take a shot of tequila before I face something dreadful? JK. Humming helps and deep breathing.

I absolutely dread the dentist myself...I am a grown woman and it still makes me sick to my stomach when I have to go. I do as Penelope said...say a calming prayer...that always helps me. Hope all went well.

Thank you everyone. I'm such a big sissy. I actually had a really good visit at the dentist -- and I THINK I might be putting my fear behind me. At least a little bit. Now I just have to remind myself that when I return in August!
