I went to school to do something that I want and be able to spend time with my family. I didn't finish my bachelor's because I was going to a business school and decided I didn't want to be a manager. I do have my Associate's in Business Administration. Anyway I work part-time at Advance Auto Parts because my old job was offered to me. I told him up front that I didn't want to work Sundays because we go to church and spend time as a family. Well, they had to fire someone because he was stealing. Now I have been working there about 1 month and have to now work Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I was under the impression that he was going to hire another employee. I am not so sure now because it has been 1 month and he hasn't hired anyone. DH only gets Saturday and Sunday off so now we can't do things as a family very much. I like making money but this isn't something I want to do forever. I just want to pay off my CCs, which I owe about 400 all togethor, save up for another vehicle and have some fun money once in awhile. I like working there but it is not my life goal and I would rather write a book eventually. Anybody feel like this somtimes?

Sometimes life does get in the way, that is for sure. However, if you are unhappy with working Sundays, you should remind him now before he starts taking advantage of you in other ways. He can't fire you because of that request. Stick up for yourself and at least claim back your Sundays.

It does sound like you need to have a talk with him. He may think you are just fine with the way things are. It's not worth it if you are resenting the time away from your family.

I would remind him of what you told him, and ask politely if they are hiring someone else.

So now that a few of us have offered some perspectives, what have you decided to do?

I think I should say something. I have a hard time with this and hate to rock the boat (Unless I am online haha). I think you all gave good advice and one of my offline friends said the same thing. I really do have a hard time sticking up for myself in person. I am working on it though
