Yesterday, Aliadam had a very successful online book discussion with the author of this month's book, here on MS which has inspired me to get a guest speaker of our own.

For those of you training to run a 5K for the first time, or for those of us looking for some running tips, I am in the process of setting up a scheduled chat with our very own Kim Danger's brother, who is a personal trainer and Ironman in training!!!!

Here he is: Brad Vajgrt

I thought we could maybe hammer out some questions we wanted to ask him, anything at all: diet, training tips, strength training questions, pace, etc and prepare a series of them to ask him when he can come meet us!

What do you think? EXCITED???

Great idea, Christy. I have no idea what I will ask him, but I can think about it.

That sounds very cool. I don't know what to ask either but it is a neat idea.

Well if we don't have any, we can certainly ask HIM about his training for an IRONMAN..how crazy is that?

If you are onboard with this, let me know. I'd like to see a head count before comitting to it. Then we can hammer our some prepared questions for the day he logs on!

I am so excited!

I think an important question is what to eat before & after the training. How soon after you are done running should you eat? How frequently does he recommend training? What is a realistic timeframe for training for a 5K, 10K, half, etc?

I'll think of more for you later.

I already compete in 5Ks and 10Ks, but am super excited for those of you trying to do it! I think you should ask him questions about different types of workouts also. Fartleks, tempo runs, and steady pace runs. How many rest days should you have? Since you are new to running, do you have to refuel during the race (probably not, but some people may need it). Eating before and after the race? What kind of clothing should you wear (don't want any friction rubs)? Are your shoes the right type for running? Those are just a few I cam up with that I wish someone would have told me before I started running.
