I was on Depo for a total of 12 years. I had a child in that time & still only had probably 5 periods in 12 years. I should say that I stopped the shot & got PG then went back on the shot at my 6 week check up. Also I never gained weight on it at all...after I went off of it is when I gained weight. OTOH my mom tried it (because I liked it so much) & she bled the entire time. The biggest advantage/disadvantage is the fact that it lasts 3 months. I loved that because I didn't have to remember to take it everyday...my mom hated that because it took so long to clear out of her system. Plus there is the fact that it's 99% effective, & there is nothing to be inserted or removed. For me it was great...I guess you just have to decide if it's worth it to you to try it. I know...not helpful at all

I loved mine too! I had no period, no cramping, & I actually lost weight! No mood swings, no binge eating. But it decrease my libido.

It was great for me, no periods, no moodswings, no weight change, no change in libido. It just depends on the person, I know lots of people that bleed a lot and gained weight, and I also know people who had no ploblems like me. I'd try it just once if it doesn't work you can try something else, it's only three months.

I was on the shot as well and I liked it for the fact of no period but hated it for the fact of wieght gain I got real plump when I was on it so I quit now I don't use anything I got fixed after my last baby in 2000.
