I am creating this thread early so Brad will see it when he logs on. Please let us know you are here by posting a "hello"

Brad, I'm Christy. Just wanted to clarify that since you know me by my "real" name.

Is this supposed to be in the chat because it's not working for me?

One of the requirements is that each member must have at least 10 post counts to their credit in order to use that feature. Brad does not have that yet. Total oversight. He will be meeting us here instead!

Thanks for coming!

We had a majority vote for this date and time slot but I don't see them online just yet. I do see that we have some others viewing so maybe we can start the conversations and others can jump in with their questions!

First of all, Brad, thanks for taking the time to spend it with us. I appreciate that. Kim is bummed for not being able to be here.

I understand you competed in the Ironman in WI. My brother in law did his first one there this year too! He completed it in 11:32:00. How was your time?

First, shoes and clothing

We'll start with the most important equipment you'll need. Your shoes should be running shoes. Go out and get a good pair of running specific shoes. Any running store should be able to look at your foot and gait and steer you in the right direction. Also, use these shoes for exercise only and get a new pair every 4-6 months (depending on how much you run). When you have no more cushioning in the shoe, thats when injuries occut.

I started training for a half marathon a few months ago (which I whimped out of...but we can cover that later) and I did do myself a favor and buy a top of the line pair of shoes. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. It was like running on clouds....so comfy and so worth the extra $$$

I also had my foot scanned and the salesman at a runner's store, assisted me in finding a shoe to fit my foot the "right" way...and again, what a difference!

Yes, I did complete the ironman wisconsin in 2006, my time was a little slower than your brother in laws but I had fun just the same. I have completed over 30 different triathlons of various lengths and am currently training for a 1/2 ironman in Hawaii in May
