Dh and I are both cradle Episcopalians. We took about 10 years off from regular church going - college until we had our first child, pretty much - and we both have many questions about religion. We don't take the bible literally and we sure don't think our religion is the only "right" one out there. However, we wanted to raise our children in the church and we gravitated towards the denomination we were raised in. Our church is very liberal and we absolutely love it. We have gotten very involved over the last 8 years and I teach Sunday school and dh ushers. I think our religion enriches our family's life very much.

Cool beans! My DH very loosely follows a Native American beliefs too. We have a friend who has pow-wow's, I've not been, but we've helped set up.

It is an amazing experience. I love to sit with the elders and hear them tell the old stories. They are very wise and all have the heart of a teacher.

Draggy-

The Soul Searching forum has guidelines that state that we must not be judgemental towards anyone elses belief system and we "walk" in here with open minds. Nobody will be scrutinized for their faith, and we will treat each other and our beliefs with outmost respect so, pitch in!

Thank you I will do just that. I'm glad that such a place exsists.

There are not many places in the real world that I feel accepted when it comes to my path.

born again christian, I do not go to any church, because i was very involved in a church for over 20 years that was so corrupted, some say it was a cult, and stupid me kept defending my church at all costs telling those that critisized it that they just didnt understand. Boy was I fooled.

I tried going to another church recently and after a few times I became very distrustful, so we stopped going.

My relationship is with my Creator. It is very personal, I feel Him in my life and it is in Him only that I trust. I listen to radio programs like Dr. Dobson, and Dr. tony Evans and I listen to christian radio almost everyday, and I buy wonderful insightful book studies, but I am not ready to get back into the church thing. I think power corrupts....

plus, since when do you have to appear perfect to attend church? It seems alot of "church goers" have no problem looking down their noses at you if your lifestyle is not pristine.

Not meant to offend anyone here, this has been my experience, and it shouldnt be this way

Latter-Day Saint/Mormon. So is DH. We are both converts. I was raised Baptist, he was raised in the Christian church. We are not active, but it has nothing to do with the church itself. We just find it extremely difficult to load up all of Tommy's medical equipment in addition to dressing and feeding our other children. We would either have to spend the entire service (if we actually made it) sequested in a private room so we could suction Tommy as needed or I'd have to haul his huge stroller full of equipment back and forth to the hallway to suction. The machine is loud and it would disturb others if we stayed. Plus he is very suseptable to germs and illnesses. If you've been to an LDS service, you'll see lots of beautiful children! I can't risk exposing Tommy.

I wish there was a way to compromise, but until Tommy gets out his trach and off of O2, I really don't see a way around it. I don't drive so that makes it even more difficult!

We are Catholic, we go to church every Sunday, and my kids attend catholic schools. I would not be who I am if I didn't beleieve in God.

I am Christian, and my family attends the same little country church that I grew up in. It was established by my ancestors 99 years ago. DH was just baptized a few months ago. He attended a Catholic church as a youngster.

BTW, soucyx6, I just noticed that you are from Winslow, Maine. I am from Winslow, Indiana!

I was raised LDS or Mormon as some call them. But I go to my husbands church as I think it's very important we all go as a family and he is a Baptist.
